New Deal Response

The New Deal has a lasting legacy of a time when out country was in desperation and needed to rebuild the basis of our economy. When the stock market crashed in October of 1929, our country went down with it. Millions lost jobs and could no longer provide the food and necessities their families needed. Our government then took action it felt would help to benefit the citizens of America by creating more jobs for workers to earn money and bring home to their families. There was the establishment of an organization named the Works Progress Administration (WPA), and they created projects across the country that were beneficial to our country in two ways. The first is that the projects gave job opportunities to those who needed work, the second was that the projects were ones to better the living across the country. Projects included the building of the San Antonio's River walk, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the Triborough Bridge. I think that these were excellent ideas because the projects helped to make America look better and be a more livable place for the American citizens, and at the same time were projects that gave the American worker an opportunity to have a job and earn money for their families so they could provide food for dinner and a comfortable living style.

C.P. Ellis

The story of C.P. Ellis was very interesting to me, I thought that people in that time period would never change their minds once they make it up. For someone that was the president of the KKK would ever change to being so compassionate for black people and befriend them. I love the fact that he was able to follow what he believed was right in his heart and ignored the social views of what's right.
